"The Guildmaster", emerged as a pan-European project after conversations between Kimmo Pörsti and Rafael Pacha (as a result of the collaboration in the Kimmo's solo album "Wayfarer").
Rafael had done many solo albums already before that. Kimmo listened to them and fell in love especially with Rafael’s folk/medieval oriented songs. Quite often those didn’t have real drums, so Kimmo proposed to Rafael that let’s form a band, who will mix folkish/medieval music with Progressive Rock. That’s how The Guildmaster was born.
The idea was to work with the languages of different Folk traditions in a progressive context.
Marco Bernard (TSOP) joined in on his powerful prog basses. In the first album keyboards were played by the Dutch maestro, Ton Scherpenzeel – and after that another maestro, Italian Alessandro Di Benedetti. He had already participated in the first album with his song ”The Knight and The Ghost”.
